Alpaca goats, bunnies and chickens... lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, broccoli, sunflowers, herbs… our farm and organic garden is lush and intentionally located in the heart of our campus. There is a path through the middle so each day we are reminded of where our food comes from, and we can stop by to visit with the animals regularly. We share responsibilities for weeding, harvesting greens and caring for the animals. Solar ovens, composting, service projects and raising awareness about environmental stewardship carries through all that we do. Being at camp means spending time in the outdoors and becoming more comfortable in a natural environment, and more dedicated to understanding and protecting it.
Daily activities tap into the resources our natural environment provides: building sculptures with sticks, building a “hobbit house” with logs, building and painting a windmill to harness electricity, building a green house to raise seedlings, dehydrating goodies from the garden to share at snack time, making Andy Goldsworthy inspired sculptures, painting with raspberries and grass! Why not?! Camp offers a perfect environment to explore, experiment and create.
